Associate, Communications and PR

Full time permanent in Sydney, NSW.
We’re on the hunt for a go-getting communications professional, who’s building a career in financial, corporate and B2B communications. Are you ready to roll your sleeves up and make a strong impact to our clients?
We’re a boutique cross-border communications and marketing agency working with global clients of all sizes across financial and professional services, technology, and the B2B space. Our strengths lie in our ability to connect audiences across borders, particularly across Asia-Pacific.

Here’s what you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Media relations: engagement with media across Australia and Asia Pacific on behalf of our clients – pitching, creating new story ideas, interview opportunities, media monitoring, and writing and landing content across earned media.
  • Media preparation and training for spokespeople: developing briefs for client spokespeople ahead of interviews – supporting media training, providing ongoing coaching support and live feedback to stakeholders.
  • Content creation: assisting in the research and initial drafting of opinion articles, blogs, press releases, and speeches and any other form of digital content in support of various communications campaigns (including for media, internal audiences, policymakers, or clients).
  • Social media: creating compelling and creative social assets across various platforms for our clients and measuring how they perform, including industry benchmarks.
  • Employee communication: be involved in creating employee engagement programmes and then taking the plan and executing it including written communications and announcements, advisory support on change communications.
  • Client engagement: be involved with client meetings, joining regular proactive touch points with clients including appropriate project management of key engagements, drive the subsequent actions, day-to-day client engagement, and regular metrics and reporting.

On your first day, we’ll expect you to have a few key ingredients
We have all been at points in our career where we’re looking for the next challenge. But it’s important we make the right decision. We’ve outlined what we believe are the key ingredients for a successful candidate.

  • Experience: 2-3 years work experience, ideally in or aspiring to build a career in financial, corporate and B2B communications. Or you’ve worked across other professional roles and want to make the switch to a role that includes communications, PR, and content or you’re currently in your first communications and PR role and want to make a move into an Associate role that allows you to flex more muscles and grow into client accounts.
  • Confidence in your skills: You will have already built a foundation of skills in communications, media and PR including media engagement, writing, and social and digital content and campaigning. Continued learning will always be key and we’re going to help you finesse these skills.
  • Creativity: AI might be coming but it doesn’t bring the ability to think and deliver smart, commercial, and creative work. But, you do.
  • Mongrel and passion: We love our team members to bring something different which makes for a strong and diverse team. The common threads among all of us at Via are tenacity, grit, and hustle.
  • Bring the fun: Let’s dream big, create great work, and have a blast. Because if you can’t have a bit of fun along the way, then what’s the point?
